Trading statement
In terms of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, companies are required to
publish a trading statement as soon as they are reasonably certain that the
financial results for the current reporting period will be more than 20%
different from that of the prior comparative period.
Further to the above, shareholders are advised that the company`s earnings and
headline earnings per share for the six months ended 31 August 2009 are expected
to be between 70% and 90% lower than the 56.71 and 56.55 cents per share,
respectively, reported in the prior comparative period. This decrease is
primarily due to the difficult economic conditions experienced both locally and
in Australia over the last year combined with the group`s plan to retain
capacity in order to take advantage of an economic recovery. The amortization of
intangible assets on acquisitions concluded in the previous period has also been
a factor.
Shareholders are advised that the above information has not been reviewed or
reported on by the company`s auditors and that the company`s results for the six
months ended 31 August 2009 are expected to be published on or about 30 October
2009.
