RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS
Notification made in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R (1)(a) of the
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
The Company was notified on 13 October 2009 by the trustee of the British
American Tobacco Employee Share Ownership Plan (the "UK Plan") that on 30
September 2009 ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco p.l.c.
(the "Shares") were purchased for the following executive directors and other
persons discharging managerial responsibility (together the "Participants") at a
price of GBP19.8387 per Share as a result of the reinvestment of dividends by
the trustee in accordance with the UK Plan.
