APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD
In compliance with section 3.59(a) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, notice is hereby given that Mr James French, a US national, has been
appointed as an independent non-executive director of the company with
immediate effect.
Mr French was nominated to the Board by the International Finance Corporation.
Mr French has extensive experience in capital markets development, treasury
management, corporate finance, financial engineering and advanced risk
management of major international bank portfolios. He was the principle
advisor on sovereign debt and capital markets development to the Government of
Algeria for the United States Department of Treasury and is also a founding
member of Pangea Global Financial Solutions, an emerging markets consulting
practice which provides treasury management, consulting and capital markets
advisory to governments, regulators, investment funds and financial
institutions in African markets.
This appointment brings the total number of independent non-executive
directors to three, in addition to three non-executive and four executive
directors. The company is in the process of selecting an independent non-
executive chairperson and a shortlist of potential candidates has been
submitted to the board for consideration.
The board welcomes Mr French to the company and believes that he will bring
considerable value to the board in developing the company`s future strategic
direction and growth.
