TONGAAT HULETT: APPOINTMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Tongaat Hulett is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Adriano Maleiane
as an independent non-executive director to the Board, with effect from 23
November 2009.
Mr Maleiane, who is Mozambican, is the chief executive officer and majority
shareholder of MaleFinanceiro, a company specialising in financial
consultancy, and of MaleSeguros, an insurance brokerage. He is also a non-
executive chairman of Visabeira, a Portuguese company, operating in tourism,
telecommunications, energy, housing and services.
Prior to these positions Mr Maleiane worked in the banking sector for more
than 33 years in various positions, including as Central Bank Governor in
Mozambique for 15 years. He also worked as National Director for Agrarian
Economy in the Ministry of Agriculture, co-ordinating the implementation of
the agrarian policy. He lectured financial systems at the Universidade Eduardo
Mondlane and he holds a Masters in Science (MSC) in Financial Economics from
the University of London, a Bachelor of Science (BSC) in Economics from
Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Mozambique and a Diploma in Accounting from
Instituto Comercial de Maputo- Mozambique.
