CHANGES TO THE BOARD
Sea Kay is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Aaref Osman to the board
with immediate effect as non-executive director, and from 1 March 2010 as chief
executive officer.
Mr Osman holds a BCom degree and is a member of the Institute of Bankers of
South Africa. He spent almost 20 years in the banking environment before
joining the Department of Housing (now Department of Human Settlements) where he
held various senior positions including those of Acting Deputy Director General
of Policy and Programme Management and Chief Director for Housing Institutions.
He also served on the Board of the National Credit Regulator.
Sea Kay is furthermore pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Anthony Green
to the board with immediate effect as independent non-executive director.
Mr Green holds a national diploma in cost and management accounting as well as a
masters degree in public administration (University of KwaZulu-Natal). He was
employed in financial roles within the civil services for more than 20 years and
was previously the chief financial officer (at the level of Deputy Director
General) for the Gauteng Department of Housing.
The newly appointed directors have significant experience in and knowledge of
public and Government administration and procedures, housing policies and
legislation, and finance which should assist Sea Kay in its aim to become an
even more significant partner to Government in the housing sector.
Mr Akhter Deshmukh (independent non-executive chairperson) and Mr Mitesh Patel
(independent non-executive director) resigned from the board effective 28
January 2010. Mr Farid Hartnick (chief executive officer) resigned from the
board effective 1 February 2010, but will stay on until 28 February to hand over
to Mr Osman.
Mr Pieter van der Schyf (executive director) will assume the role of executive
chairman in the interim.
The process of transformation within the group is to continue beyond board
appointments and will also include addressing top- and operational management.
