TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited ("the JSE"), listed
companies are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they become
reasonably certain that the financial results for the next period to be reported
on will be more than 20% different from those of the previous corresponding
period or from a profit forecast previously provided to the market in relation
to such period.
The loss per share and headline loss per share for the six months ended 31
December 2009 are expected to be between 0.05 and 0.07 1cents compared to the
earnings per share of 0.0067 cents and headline earnings per share of 0.0070
cents as reported for the last interim period.
BioScience Brands Limited is structurally poised for improved performance into
the future. Notably, the company has completed the consolidation and
restructuring associated with the integration of Wellco Health, Bioharmony and
Muscle Science, and has cut costs in response to the tough trading conditions
experienced during the six months ended 31 December 2009. Additionally
Bioscience Brands Limited successfully re-launched Muscle Science and launched
Xplode and Staminade ready-to-drink beverages and bars. These important
launches were unfortunately delayed by 2 months due to the packaging supplier
problem. Nevertheless all costs associated with these launches were incurred in
the period under review.
