CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that negotiations are at an advanced stage with two
short listed candidates for empowerment at shareholder level and it is
anticipated that a transaction could be concluded for the sale of 10% of
the Group`s equity. If successfully concluded, the proposed transaction
may have a material effect on the price at which Mercantile`s shares
trade. Accordingly, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when
dealing in their Mercantile shares until a detailed announcement is made.
