DGC
DGC - DigiCore - Trading Statement
DIGICORE HOLDINGS LIMITED
Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa
(Registration number: 1998/012601/06)
Share Code: DGC
ISIN Number: ZAE000016945
("DigiCore" or "the Company"))
TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, a listed company is
required to publish a trading statement as soon as it becomes apparent that
headline earnings per share and/or earnings per share for the period to be
reported on next are expected, with a reasonable degree of certainty, to
differ by at least twenty per cent (20%) from those of the previous
corresponding period.
Shareholders are advised that DigiCore`s headlines earnings per share and
earnings per share for the six months ended 31 December 2009, are expected to
decrease by between fifty five percent (55%) and sixty five per cent (65%),
compared with the headline earnings per share of 26,0 cents per share and
earnings per share of 26,3 cents per share, for the comparative period in
2008.
The continued economic recession impacted our earnings for the period under
review. Whilst maintaining a balanced approach between short term returns for
our shareholders, retaining skilled employees and positioning ourselves for
the upturn, we have reduced costs by sixteen percent (16 %) from the six
month period ended 30 June 2009 to the six month period ended 31 December
2009
We have continued to expand our potential into various areas, but the return
on investment into various initiatives, including employing more R&D
personnel to ensure that our software remains the most powerful in the
industry and the opening of additional "lifestyle" fitment centres, will only
be seen in future reporting periods once the global economy starts to
recover.
We are of the opinion that trading conditions will remain tough for the next
12 months, although an improvement has been seen in the domestic market.
Opportunities in the Stolen Vehicle Recovery market continue to improve.
We can say with confidence that, with the new C-track products currently
being launched and other initiatives we have invested in, our business is
sound and ready to improve with the global economic upturn, higher fuel
prices globally predicted and better credit and cashflow availability.
The financial results on which this trading statement has been based have not
been reviewed or reported on by the Company`s auditors.
DigiCore`s results for the 6 months ended 31 December 2009 will be released
on SENS on or about 9 March 2010.
