SIMMERS APPOINTS INTERIM CEO
In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, shareholders are advised that CEO, Deon van der Mescht has resigned
with immediate effect from the Company and as a director of Simmers in order to
take up the leadership position at Simmers` associate company, First Uranium
Corporation (First Uranium), as interim President and Chief Executive Officer.
As per the Simmers SENS announcement of 12 March 2010 entitled `Detailed
Cautionary Announcement Relating to the Recapitalisation of First Uranium
Corporation and Changes to the Board`, the Simmers Board has appointed Nico
Schoeman, former Group Business Development Executive, as Interim Chief
Executive Officer of Simmers.
Mr Schoeman, a civil engineer by profession, joined Simmers in 2007 and played a
key role in the acquisition of the Tau Lekoa Mine and the restructuring of the
Buffelsfontein Gold Mine. He has also been instrumental in defining Simmers`
role in the refinancing of First Uranium.
