Trading Statement
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited relating to trading
statements, a listed company is required to publish a trading statement as soon
as it becomes aware that the financial results for the next period to be
reported on will differ by 20% from those of the previous corresponding period.
Shareholders are advised that Awethu is in the process of finalising the results
for the six months to 31 December 2009. It is expected that as a result of
repairs to the mill, income for the period under review was drastically reduced,
resulting in the company reflecting a loss for the period. The loss and headline
loss per share to be 2.61 cents per share for the six months to 31 December
2009, compared to earnings and headline earnings of 0.58 cents per share for the
prior comparable period.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based, has not been
reviewed or audited by Awethu`s auditors.
The company`s results to 31 December 2009 will be published on SENS on or before
31 March 2010.
