WILDERNESS HOLDINGS LISTED ON THE BSE AND JSE
Gaborone, Botswana, 8 April 2010 - Conservation tourism pioneer Wilderness
Holdings was listed today on the Botswana Stock Exchange and the
Johannesburg Stock Exchange`s Africa board.
This follows a private placing in which 28 000 000 ordinary shares were
issued at a price of P4.00 per share (R4.56) and a public offer in which 3
million shares were issued at a price of P4.00 per share in Botswana and
R4.56 per share in South Africa. After the listing the company`s largest
shareholders and their holdings are expected to be management (20.8%), Wine
Investments (20.9%), PUMA (20.1%) and Capital Africa Limited (17.3%).
Speaking at the Botswana Stock Exchange this morning chief executive Andy
Payne said the listings were significant to the company`s evolution and were
designed to enable it to take full advantage of growth opportunities. They
would also give the public an opportunity to participate in its future
growth. "We believe that our unique positioning, iconic international brand
and management`s long track record of financial and operational delivery
present investors with an attractive growth and performance platform," he
said.
Wilderness Holdings` core philosophy is one of building sustainable
conservation economies through responsible tourism, which shares the
benefits of tourism with local communities and ensures that pristine
wilderness areas are protected profitably.
The 26-year old business is invested in 53 destinations and manages and
markets a further 17 in seven Southern African countries. It also operates
specialist travel businesses in six countries as well as a fleet of 49
aircraft. It employs more than 2 700 people, most of whom come from remote
rural communities. The company achieved a revenue of P995.05 million (R1
220.45 million) for the year to February 2009.
