WITHDRAWAL OF CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are referred to the Cautionary Announcement dated 24 May 2010 in
relation to negotiations with regard to the conclusion of a sale of 10% of the
Group`s equity to two short listed candidates (the "Proposed Empowerment
Transaction"). In view of the current merger negotiations underway with Sasfin
Holdings Limited, announced in a joint Cautionary Announcement dated 26 May
2010, the board of directors of Mercantile have decided to defer negotiations
relating to the Proposed Empowerment Transaction pending the outcome of the
merger negotiations. In relation to the merger negotiations shareholders are
required to continue to exercise caution when dealing in their Mercantile
shares.
