Further to the joint cautionary announcements released on SENS on 31 March 2010,
17 May 2010 and 15 June 2010 regarding the proposed merger of Metropolitan and
Momentum, shareholders of FirstRand and Metropolitan are advised that
discussions relating to the merger have not yet been finalised. Shareholders are
accordingly advised to continue exercising caution when dealing in FirstRand and
Metropolitan shares until a further announcement is made.
