APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Board of Directors of Control Instruments has much pleasure in announcing
the appointment of Mr. Peter Surgey as an independent non-executive director to
the Group`s Board of Directors, with effect from 1 October 2010. Peter replaces
Mr. Peter Bieber who retired from the Board at the end of August 2010.He will be
a member of the audit and remuneration sub-committees.
Peter Surgey worked for the Barlow Group of companies for 25 years. From 1994 to
2008 Peter was a Director of Barloworld, during which time he was Chief
Executive of the Plascon Group and held other senior executive responsibilities
in the Group.
His wealth of experience includes all aspects of general and executive
management, both locally and internationally, at operational and Board level.
This adds another dimension to the Group`s Board of Directors and will be
particularly valuable as the Group capitalises on the international growth
opportunities presented by the own IP (Intellectual Property) products designed,
developed and manufactured by its OEM business, Pi Shurlok, and the expansion of
its sub-Saharan Africa automotive aftermarket business.
Control Instruments operates in the automotive sector through two businesses, Pi
Shurlok and CI Automotive. Pi Shurlok designs, develops and manufactures
electronics for the OEM automotive industry and has facilities in Cambridge
(UK), Detroit (USA) and Pietermaritzburg (SA). CI Automotive distributes quality
branded products to the automotive aftermarket in sub-Saharan Africa and is
based in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
