1 The Company was notified on 6 October 2010 of the following change in the
interests in ordinary shares of British American Tobacco p.l.c. in respect
of the undermentioned executive director and person discharging managerial
responsibility ("PDMR") arising from the purchase of ordinary shares at a
price of 2379.37 pence per ordinary share on 29 September 2010 through the
Company`s Dividend Reinvestment Plan (the "DRIP"):

Partnership Share Scheme at a price of 2377.00 pence per Share.
