TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, companies are
required to publish a Trading Statement as soon as they become reasonably
certain that the financial results for the period to be reported on next,
will differ by more than 20% from those of the previous corresponding
period.
The board of directors of Merchant advises that its headline earnings per
share for the 12 months ended 30 September 2010 is expected to increase
between 35% and 55% on the 17,6 cents per share reported for the 12 months
ended 30 September 2009, and earnings per share is expected to increase
between 100% and 120% on the 17,0 cents per share reported for the 12 months
ended 30 September 2009.
The financial information contained in this Trading Statement has not been
reviewed or reported on by the company`s external auditors. Merchant will
release its abridged audited results and post its annual report for the 12
months ended 30 September 2010 on or about 21 December 2010.
