In respect of Mr N F Oppenheimer, a director of the Company, Anglo American plc
hereby notifies the information set out below, notified to it on 14 December
2010 by Maitland Advisory LLP;
"Notification of a transaction by a person connected with a person discharging
managerial responsibilities - Disclosure Rule 3.1.2 of the Financial Services
Authority Handbook ("the Disclosure Rule")
I have been authorised and instructed by and on behalf of E Oppenheimer & Son
International Limited ("EOSIL") to notify Anglo American plc (the "Issuer") of
the following transaction for the purpose of discharging the responsibilities of
EOSIL under the Disclosure Rule.
EOSIL is the legal holder of 27,300,000 ordinary shares in the Issuer of which
19,202,452 ordinary shares are also beneficially held by EOSIL and 8,097,548
ordinary shares are beneficially held by Gartland Limited. Such 27,300,000
shares are charged as part of a package of security for a loan facility. EOSIL
is connected with Mr Nicholas Frank Oppenheimer, a director of the Issuer.
EOSIL has conducted the following transaction on its own account, causing the
responsibility to notify to arise under the Disclosure Rule.
EOSIL has sold 2,100,000 ordinary shares in the Issuer in the market at a
weighted average price of GBP30.43476 per ordinary share. The sales took place
in London on 10 December 2010 and 13 December 2010.
