TRADING STATEMENT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2010
In terms of paragraph 3.4(b)(i) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited,
listed companies are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they
become reasonably certain that the financial results for the next period to be
reported on will be more than 20% different from those of the previous
corresponding period or from a profit forecast previously provided to the market
in relation to such period.
The board would like to advise shareholders that Bonatla has now returned to
profitability and compared to the previous year:
1 Headline earnings per share is expected to improve by more than 200% (from
a headline loss per share to headline earnings per share) when compared to
the previous year, although a range cannot yet be identified until the
accounting treatment of recently announced acquisitions and certain costs
associated with those acquisitions has been established.
2 A trading update cannot yet be issued on earnings per share until the above
accounting treatment is established.
In addition, the board would like to advise shareholders that Bonatla published
a profit forecast for the year ending 31 December 2010 in a circular to
shareholders dated 11 April 2009. In relation to the profit forecast
shareholders are advised that earnings per share and headline earnings per share
is expected to more than 45% lower than the forecast earnings per share of 2.07
cents per share.
A further trading update will be issued once the appropriate accounting
treatment has been agreed with the company`s auditors.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been
reviewed by the company`s auditors.
