CHANGE IN ROLES OF DIRECTORS AND APPOINTMENT OF NEW CEO
In compliance with section 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, the board is pleased to announce the change in role of Mr Sibusiso
Gamede from independent non-executive director to Chief Executive Officer of
the Company and the role of Mr Steven Kruger will revert to that of Financial
Director. Both these changes are with immediate effect.
Mr Gamede is currently the Acting Chief Land Claims Commissioner in the
Department of Rural Development and Land Reform. He has a LLB (Honours)
qualification from Warwick University in the UK, as well as having obtained
various diplomas relating to law and legal practise from the UK and USA. Mr
Gamede has been admitted is an admitted attorney and conveyancer of the High
Courts of South Africa and Lesotho.
Mr Gamede spent many years overseas and has vast international experience,
having served as the Head of the South African Government Delegation to the
Basel Convention, Chairperson of the Africa Legal Group in Geneva,
representative of Africa in the Drafting of the Compliance Regime under the
Basel Convention, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Basel
Convention, Head of South African Delegation Climate Change negotiations,
Bonn, Advisor To Minister Moosa(RSA) and Minister Rothschild(Sweden) UNFCCC,
Chairperson of the Least Developed Countries Substance Group in Morocco, and
Head of South African Government Delegation POPS.
Mr Gamede has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Black Lawyers
Association-Legal Education Centre from 1997 - 2001, Chief Director of the
Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism to 2002, a consultant for the
United Nations (Basel Convention-Pretoria Regional Centre) from 2002 - 2004,
Chief Executive Officer of Sibusiso Legal Consultants from 2003 to 2005,
Consultant to the Department of Minerals and Energy(Mineral Resources)and
Senior Partner at Smit Jones and Pratt Attorneys, Senior partner at Gamede
Attorneys and Conveyancers and as a Special Advisor to the Minister of
Agriculture and Land Affairs.
