TRADING STATEMENT
In terms of paragraph 3.4(b)the Listing Requirements of the JSE Limited,
companies are required to publish a Trading Statement as soon as they become
reasonably certain that the financial results for the period to be reported on
next will differ by more than 20% from those of the previous corresponding
period.
South African cement sales continue to decline. Industry figures released for
the five months from October 2010 to February 2011 show a cumulative decline
of 6.5%.
The first half of PPC`s current financial year will end on 31 March 2011. Due
to difficult trading conditions, PPC`s financial results for this reporting
period are expected to decrease by more than 30% compared to those for the six
months ending 31 March 2010.
Further guidance will be provided once the management accounts for the
reporting period have been completed and reviewed.
The financial information, on which this trading statement is based, comprises
of management accounts which have been prepared by the company and which have
not been reviewed or reported on by the company`s external auditors. PPC will
release its interim results for the six months ended 31 March 2011 on or about
17 May 2011.
