APPOINTMENT OF INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Francine-Ann
(Fran) Du Plessis as an independent non-executive director and member of the
Audit and Risk Committee of Arcelormittal South Africa with effect from
Wednesday 4 May 2011.
Fran completed her B.Comm law degree at Stellenbosch University in 1975 and her
LLB in 1977. In 1979, she obtained a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting at
UCT and qualified as CA in 1981. This combination of legal and accounting
education allowed Fran to move into highly specialised roles and has given her a
broad understanding of risk and compliance.
Fran previously served on the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa
Limited and the South African Airways Boards. She also serves on the boards of
Naspers Limited, Sanlam Limited, Palaborwa Mining Company Limited and Life
Healthcare Group Holdings Limited.
The Chairman and the Board of Directors congratulate Francine on her
appointment.
