Altech announces appointment of Jeffrey Hedberg as
Group Chief Operating Officer
JSE-listed Allied Technologies Limited (Altech) is pleased to announce the
appointment of Jeffrey Hedberg as Chief Operating Officer (COO) to the Altech
Group, effective 1 July 2011.
An ICT industry veteran of more than 20 years, his experience and expertise
spans fixed and mobile telecommunications, mergers and acquisitions,
international expansion and vendor engagement.
Hedberg will report directly to Altech Group CEO, Craig Venter. Hedberg will be
responsible for the operational leadership of Altech`s 33 operating companies
with the Group Executives of the Telecommunications, Multi-Media and Information
Technology (TMT) divisions reporting to him.
According to Venter, Hedberg`s skills and experience ideally match Altech`s key
strategic objectives of growth through globalisation, income base
diversification, M&A activities and convergence.

a global leadership position in the TMT sector," said Venter.

Hedberg holds a BA in Business Administration, International Business and
Marketing from Northeastern University and an MA in International Management,
International Policy and International Law from the University of Denver.
Prior to this appointment, Hedberg was Acting CEO of the Telkom Group until 31,
March, 2011. He is currently acting in an advisory capacity at Telkom until the
end of June, 2011. Hedberg joined the Telkom Group in November of 2009 and was
CEO of Telkom`s Nigerian subsidiary Multilinks for five months until he was
asked to return to become Acting Group CEO in July, 2010. From 2006 to 2009 he
was CEO of Cell C, the third largest mobile operator in South Africa. From 1999
to December 2004 he worked as a Member of the Management Board of Deutsche
Telekom, responsible for International activities. Prior to Deutsche Telekom he
spent close to five years at the Swiss national phone company, Swisscom, where
he was similarly a Member of the Management Board responsible for International
activities.
Hedberg will also assume an executive director position on the Altech Board.
