RETIREMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND APPOINTMENT OF SENIOR INDEPENDENT
DIRECTOR
As previously advised to shareholders, senior independent non-executive director
Chris Ball has retired as a director of Nedbank Group and Nedbank Limited with
effect from 6 May 2011, after reaching the mandatory retirement age for
directors.
The board is pleased to advise that Malcolm Wyman has been appointed as the
senior independent non-executive director and will also succeed Chris as
Chairman of the Group Audit Committee.
Nedbank Group Chairman, Reuel Khoza, thanked Chris for the significant
contribution he has made to the board since his appointment in 2002.
"Chris has served the group with distinction over the past eight years as a
director and as the senior independent director in the past four years. During
this time he has demonstrated decisive and independent thinking, an in-depth
knowledge of the banking industry and an unwavering commitment to his
obligations as a director. As one of our longest serving directors, his presence
has ensured continuity and stability at board level and he leaves at a time when
the group is strong and competitively positioned. Chris has also played a
valuable role on board committees, in particular as Chairman of the Group Audit
Committee. We wish Chris a healthy and fulfilled retirement."
