RETIREMENT OF DENNIS COPE, AND APPOINTMENT OF ABOUBAKAR JAKOET, AS CHIEF
FINANCE OFFICER AND DIRECTOR OF PICK N PAY STORES LIMITED
Further to our announcement on 19 May 2010, Bakar Jakoet has succeeded
Dennis Cope as Chief Finance Officer, and has been appointed as a director
of Pick n Pay Stores Limited, effective 29 April 2011.
Dennis retired from the company on 28 April 2011 after thirty-four years of
loyal and devoted service to Pick n Pay. As Pick n Pay Chairman, Gareth
Ackerman, said: "We will miss his humour, wisdom and experience, and his
prodigious appetite for hard work. We wish him all the best in his well-
deserved retirement and extend heartfelt thanks to him for all that he has
done for the Group."
Bakar is a Chartered Accountant, and has been with the Group for twenty-six
years. He was appointed a divisional director in 1993 and has served on the
Retail Management Board since its formation in 1995. He has been involved in
various projects for the Group both locally and internationally. In May 2010
it was announced that Bakar was the chosen successor to Dennis.
