MICHAEL DENNIS GARCIA APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF
EVRAZ HIGHVELD
Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium Limited announces that Michael Garcia is
appointed as director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company with effect
from 13 May 2011.
Michael brings a wealth of experience to the Company. He has a BSC in
Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and
an MBA from Harvard Business School. Michael was previously Senior Vice-
President, Manufacturing and Supply Chain at Evraz Inc. North America, one of
the largest tubular and plate products producer and the largest manufacturer
of rails in North America.
Today, the steel industry operates in a global market and Michael`s vision
for Evraz Highveld is to create an environment that fosters the involvement
of all employees to their maximum potential and to develop the business to
create outstanding value for the customer. This will involve creating
excellence by developing the customer base, growth opportunities, world class
manufacturing, supply chain management and continuous improvement.
Bheki Shongwe, Chairman of the Board, wishes Michael all the best for his new
responsibilities and is confident that Michael will strengthen the management
team and bring best international management practices to enhance value to
all the stakeholders of Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium Limited.
