APPOINTMENT OF RIAAN DU PLOOY AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Optimum Coal is pleased to announce the appointment of Riaan du Plooy as its
new Chief Operating Officer with effect from 01 July 2011. Riaan is an
experienced miner and professional engineer who holds a Bachelor of
Engineering (Mining) and an MBA from the University of Pretoria.
Over the past 15 years, he has held various positions in line management,
projects and business development within the mining industry both in South
Africa and Australia. Most recently, Riaan worked as a General Manager at
Xstrata Coal South Africa and was responsible for two underground operations.
Mike Teke, CEO, said: "We welcome Riaan to the management team and wish him
every success in his new role. I believe that his wealth of knowledge and
experience will complement the existing skills of Optimum Coal`s operational
