APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF GOVERNANCE AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Nedbank Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Thabani Jali as Chief
Governance and Compliance Officer and as a member of the Nedbank Group Executive
Committee (Group Exco) with effect from 17 October 2011.
Thabani (52) is currently executive chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers (Southern
Africa). He was formerly a Deputy Judge President of the High Court of South
Africa (Natal Provincial Division) and a Judge of the Competition Appeal Court.
Prior to his appointment on the bench, he was a partner in a commercial law
firm. He also served as Chairman of the Competition Commission Inquiry into
Bank Charges and the National Payment System from 2006 to 2008.
He replaces Selby Baqwa SC who has retired after almost nine years` service with
the group. During this time Selby enhanced the enterprise governance and
compliance function for the group and was instrumental in Nedbank Group winning
numerous governance and sustainability awards including the award for "Best
Corporate Governance" at the Commonwealth Business Council-African Business
Awards 2010.
Nedbank Group Chief Executive, Mike Brown, said: "Governance and compliance play
