UPDATE ON CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are referred to the cautionary announcement published by Optimum
Coal Holdings Limited ("Optimum") on 17 August 2011. The board of directors of
Optimum has become aware of market speculation in relation to the cautionary
announcement of 17 August 2011 and wish to inform shareholders that it has
received unsolicited, non-binding expressions of interest from third parties to
acquire a controlling interest in Optimum. Shareholders are advised that there
is currently no certainty that Optimum will receive a firm intention to make an
offer from any party.
Accordingly, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in
Optimum`s securities until a further announcement is made or this cautionary
announcement is withdrawn.
