CHANGES TO THE BOARD AND UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT
In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE
Limited, Awethu has pleasure in announcing the appointment of Jason Taylor
as independent non-executive Chairman to the Awethu Board of directors with
effect from 11 November 2011. Jason has been an independent non-executive
director of Awethu since September 2009. Jason Taylor was born and brought
up in Hilton, Kwa-zulu Natal, and attended the University of
Pietermaritzburg where he obtained his BComm (Accounts). He then joined the
University of Durban where he completed his BComm (Hons) and studied further
at RAU where he did a Higher diploma in Auditing. Jason served his articles
at Simon Hurwitz, is registered with SAICA, and has had extensive experience
in financial services in the corporate environment and in a professional
capacity.
In the Awethu provisional annual financial results published by the Company
on 2 November 2011, a number of issues were raised by the independent
auditors. The Company wishes to confirm that all issues raised in the audit
report have been addressed as follows:
The major shareholder`s loan has been increased to the amount subordinated
as at 30 June 2010, the Awethu audit committee complies with both the
Companies Act 71 of 2008 and King III, the transfer of R3 million plus
interest into the Awethu bank account has been completed, the VAT return and
payment has been made, and the provisional financial results were released
on SENS on 2 November 2011 and subsequently mailed to shareholders.
