5. The uncertainty and volatility stemming from the global economy where fears
of sovereign credit default and recessionary concerns persists, is impacting
world markets and the contagion effect on the banking industry. Locally, the
banking sector remains largely subdued with mixed signs of credit demand. Sasfin
continues to broaden its franchise and grow its non-banking activities, focusing
on the entrepreneurial market and private client base. Sasfin`s growth
trajectory is indeed sustainable on the back of its strong capital position,
improved liquidity levels and diversified funding and activity base.
