REDUCTION IN PRODUCTION
Shareholders are advised that the company has not yet received environmental
approval to commence mining at the Voorslag resource. The required applications
in this regard were submitted to the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry
last year. It was expected that approval would be given by March 2012. Mining
at the Vlakfontein opencast operations has been completed. With the production
presently limited only to Mooifontein Underground resource, the mining
production is expected to be reduced to about 40,000-50,000 per month.
Considering the prevailing scenario, the company is embarking upon a cost
reduction exercise to offset the impact of lower volumes until such time as the
necessary approvals are received.
