DECLARATION OF A FINAL AND A SPECIAL DIVIDEND
Notice is hereby given that the directors have declared:
1 A gross final dividend for the year ending December 2011 of 29 cents per
share; and
2 A gross special dividend of 146 cents per share.
The following dates are applicable:
Last day to trade Friday, 29 June 2012
Shares commence trading "ex" dividend Monday, 2 July 2012
Record date Friday, 6 July 2012
Payment date Monday, 9 July 2012
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday, 2
July 2012 and Friday, 6 July 2012, both days inclusive.
In terms of the new Dividend Tax effective 1 April 2012, the following
additional information is disclosed:
a) local dividend tax rate is 15%;
b) No STC credits available for utilisation;
c) In respect of the final dividend the net local dividend amount is:
i 24.65 cents per share for shareholders liable to pay the new Dividends
Tax
ii 29 cents per share for shareholders exempt from paying the new
Dividends Tax;
d) In respect of the special dividend the net local dividend amount is
i 124.1 cents per share for shareholders liable to pay the new Dividends
Tax
ii 146 cents per share for shareholders exempt from paying the new
Dividends Tax;
e) The payment will be rounded to two decimal places;
f) The issued share capital of Howden is 65 729 109 ordinary shares; and
g) The Howden tax reference number is 9624/001/71/6
