NOSA hosts HSE seminar to Chinese delegation
MICROmega Holdings Limited`s subsidiary company NOSA (Pty) Ltd ("NOSA") is this
week hosting a Health, Safety & Environment ("HSE") seminar for a delegation
from China`s State Development & Investment Corporation ("SDIC").
Seventeen delegates from China`s SDIC will be attending training and update
seminars on the latest developments in the HSE industry. During their visit the
delegates will also be hosted by several of NOSA`s clients to benchmark their
own HSE performance against leading South African companies.
"In recent years NOSA has experienced demand for its products and services in
regions such as China. Our products and services are recognised as an
international benchmark in the management of HSE risks, and we are proud to
impart our knowledge and assist international clients in meeting their HSE
targets", says Gary Streek, NOSA Director. "Furthermore, China in particular has
industrialised faster than any other country. As such the drive towards
improving occupational health standards in the country has increased", says
Streek.
SDIC, established in 1995, is one of NOSA`s largest international clients with
$44bn (R372bn) of total assets and a workforce of over 80,000 employees. SDIC
was ranked among top-class enterprises in the annual performance assessments by
State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Chinese
State Council (SASAC) for the seventh consecutive year and has been awarded the
title `Excellently-Performing Enterprise` for six consecutive years.
"SDIC is seen as a leading organisation in China, promoting national economic
development for the country. It is therefore a feather in our cap that they are
using NOSA as a source of information on leading HSE practices", says Greg
Morris, Chief Executive Officer of MICROmega.
"NOSA has a good working relationship with SDIC management and we are hoping to
expand the scope of our engagement further." According to Morris "With South
Africa being a member of BRICS, this type of information sharing will hopefully
grow to the other member countries, particularly given what NOSA has to offer
from an HSE perspective."
