Retirement of Independent Non-Executive Director at Altron
In compliance with paragraph 3.59 (b) of the JSE Limited’s Listings Requirements, shareholders
are advised that following 4 years of service on the Altron board, Ms Barbara Masekela has retired
as an independent non-executive director of the company with immediate effect.
Barbara spent most of her life as a political activist working with the ANC observer mission to the
United Nations in New York and as secretary for arts and culture in Zambia. She was elected to
the national executive committee of the ANC while serving as Nelson Mandela’s chief of staff until
1994. In 1995 Barbara was appointed as ambassador to France and in 2003 as ambassador to
the United States of America. Barbara continues to serve as a trustee of the Nelson Mandela
Children’s Fund.
The board wishes to express its appreciation to Barbara for her years of dedicated service on the
Altron board and nomination committee and wishes her well on her retirement.
