CPI rebasing impact on Eskom Inflation Linked Bonds
Eskom has taken note of the proposed 2013 amendments to CPI, specifically the
reweighting and rebasing in the index.
Eskom will assess the impact of this rebasing and re-weighting of the CPI, and the
changes that will need to be made to Eskom’s Inflation Linked Bond Base Indices
in order to reflect the relevant changes. The new base indices on Eskom Inflation
Linked Bonds will be calculated in such a way that the capital value of the bonds
will remain the same before and after the indices were rebased, (which is in
accordance with Section 2.3 of the ISDA Inflation Derivatives Definitions ). Eskom,
as the Issuer is not changing the terms of the Notes, but merely confirming the
procedure for rebasing of the Index, which is line with current market practise.
The rebased indices will affect the following Eskom Inflation Linked Bonds:
EL15
EL28
EL29
