SANLAM LIMITED - APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
In terms of paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, shareholders are
advised that Mr Arun Duggal has been appointed to the Sanlam Ltd and Sanlam Life Insurance Ltd
boards as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 15 January 2013.
Arun is Chairman of the board of directors of Shriram Capital, Shriram Transport Finance
Company, Shriram Properties, and Shriram City Union Finance. He is also the Chairman of
Bellwether Microfinance Fund and the Vice-Chairman of International Asset Reconstruction
Company. His other directorships include: Jubilant Energy, Netherlands, L & T Mutual Fund
Trustee Limited, Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited, Info Edge, Dish TV, Adani Port & SEZ; Carzonrent
(India) Pvt. Ltd., Mortice Limited (Singapore). He is also a member of the Investment Committee
of Axis Private Equity. He is a Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Management,
Ahmedabad where he teaches a course on Venture Capital & Private Equity.
He is an experienced international banker and has advised companies and financial institutions on
financial strategy, mergers, acquisitions and capital raising. Arun‘s career with Bank of America
spanned 26 years, based across the US, Hong Kong and Japan, with his last role being that of Chief
Executive of Bank of America in India from 1998 to 2001.
Having initially qualified as a mechanical engineer from the prestigious Indian Institute of
Technology, Delhi, Arun also holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
