Changes to the Board
Pick n Pay today announced the resignation of Alex Mathole as an independent non-
executive director, with effect from 28 February 2013.
At the time of her appointment to the board in October 2010, Alex was chief legal
counsel for Siemens in Africa. Alex recently tendered her resignation from Siemens to
take up an executive position at Tiger Brands Limited. As Tiger Brands is a major
supplier to Pick n Pay, Alex has resigned from the board of Pick n Pay Stores Limited to
prevent the creation of a possible conflict of interests.
Chairman of Pick n Pay, Gareth Ackerman, said, “Alex was a valuable member of the
Pick n Pay board. Her professional experience in sustainability and corporate social
responsibility, as well as corporate governance issues, added greatly to board
discussions. She contributed not only to the corporate governance aspects of the
company, but also to our understanding of the fast developing, highly competitive retail
market. We will miss her contribution to board debates. We wish her all of the best in
her future career.”
