APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD
The Board of Directors (“Board”) of Discovery is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Herman
Bosman as a non-executive director to the Board, with effect from 14 April 2014.
Mr Bosman, who is CEO designate of Rand Merchant Insurance Holdings Limited (“RMIH”), will succeed
Mr Peter Cooper who is retiring as non-executive director from the Discovery Board as part of RMIH’s
previously announced executive succession plan. RMIH, with a 25.01% interest, is Discovery’s largest
shareholder.
Mr Bosman is a respected leader in the South African banking industry. He holds a LLM degree from the
University of Johannesburg, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Mr Bosman was in the employ of Rand
Merchant Bank (RMB) for 12 years and headed up RMB’s corporate finance practice from 2000 to 2006,
before moving to Deutsche Bank South Africa where he was the CEO from 2006 to 2013. He serves on the
Board of Governors of the University of Johannesburg, and is a Director of Business and Arts South Africa.
Mr Bosman has acted as a professional adviser to Discovery on numerous occasions and brings to the
Discovery Board extensive expertise and insights into the banking and investment industries.
Discovery wishes to thank Mr Cooper for his invaluable contribution to the Discovery Board of Directors.
