CREDIT EVENT NOTICE AND NOTICE OF PUBLICLY AVAILABLE INFORMATION
ZAR 250,000,000 Series 2012-34 Portfolio Credit Linked Notes – ACL180 (the “Notes”)
Reference is made to the Notes described above issued by Absa Bank Limited under its ZAR
20,000,000,000 Credit-linked Note Programme. Capitalised terms used and not otherwise defined in
this notice shall have the meanings given them in the Programme Memorandum and the Applicable
Pricing Supplement of the Notes.
Absa Bank Limited hereby gives notice that a Bankruptcy Credit Event under the Notes with respect
to the Reference Entity, African Bank Limited as specified in the Reference Portfolio Annex attached
as Annex 1 to the Applicable Pricing Supplement, occurred when the Minister of Finance placed
Africa Bank Limited under curatorship with effect from 16:00, 10 August 2014.
This notice also comprises our Notice of Publicly Available Information with respect to this Credit
Event. The detail concerning the curatorship appointment described above has been published by the
South Africa Reserve Bank, The Star and Business Day newspapers, which fulfils the requirement of
Publicly Available Information under the Conditions to Settlement of the Notes.
Nothing in this notice shall be construed as a waiver of any rights Absa Bank Limited may have with
respect to the Notes.
