In terms of paragraph 3.83(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements and section 122(3)(b) of the
Companies Act, No 71 of 2008, as amended, Massmart shareholders are advised that on 3 September
2015 Massmart was notified by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited (“Aberdeen”) that Aberdeen has
acquired a beneficial interest in Massmart ordinary shares such that the total of all beneficial interests of
Massmart ordinary shares held by Aberdeen is 20.09% of the total issued Massmart ordinary shares.
