In terms of paragraph 3.83(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements and section 122(3)(b) of the
Companies Act, No 71 of 2008, as amended, Massmart shareholders are advised that on 23
September 2016 Massmart was notified by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited (and/or acting for its
affiliates) as discretionary investment manager on behalf of multiple managed portfolios (“Aberdeen”)
that Aberdeen has acquired an additional 0.50% beneficial interest in Massmart ordinary shares such
that the total of all beneficial interests of Massmart ordinary shares held by Aberdeen is 20.34% of the
total issued Massmart ordinary shares.
