S&P GLOBAL RATINGS (“S&P”) UPGRADES CAPITEC BANK’S NATIONAL
SCALE RATINGS
S&P has upgraded the national scale credit ratings of Capitec
Bank, the wholly owned subsidiary of Capitec.
The global scale long- and short-term ratings remain at
‘BB+/B’. The outlook for these ratings remains negative.
S&P recently recalibrated their national scale ratings. As a
result, Capitec Bank’s South African national scale long-term
ratings been upgraded from ‘zaA’ to ‘zaAA’ and the short-term
ratings from ‘zaA-2’ to ‘zaA-1+’.
Capitec Bank’s global scale ratings were not downgraded when
the sovereign was downgraded in April 2017.
