S&P GLOBAL RATINGS (“S&P”) AFFIRMS CAPITEC BANK’S NATIONAL
SCALE RATINGS
S&P has affirmed the global and national scale credit ratings
of Capitec Bank, the wholly owned subsidiary of Capitec.
The global scale long- and short-term ratings remain at
‘BB+/B’. The negative outlook for these ratings is unchanged
and is referenced to the South African sovereign’s outlook as
well as expected weak economic growth. The South African
national scale long-term ratings remain ‘zaAA’ and the short-
term ratings ‘zaA-1+’.
S&P’s report refers to the bank’s robust profitability, strong
capitalisation and liquidity ratios, which they state
demonstrates resilience despite low economic growth.
