TRANSNET SOC LTD. ANNOUNCEMENT OF 2018 AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

On the 20th of August, 2018 Transnet SOC Ltd. announced its Audited Annual financial results
for the year 2017/18.
Transnet SOC Ltd.’s Auditors issued a Qualified Opinion as there were certain irregularities
regarding compliance with the Public Finance Management Act of 1999 (Act No.1 of 1999) and
the Companies Act of South Africa, 2008 (Act No. 71 of 2008). The qualification was in respect
of Irregular Expenditure of R8,1 Billion.
The Auditors were unable to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence that the Irregular
Expenditure was complete and accurate due to the lack of the implementation and monitoring
of existing controls to identify and report on Irregular Expenditure.
