Fatality at Vanggatfontein Mine
Wescoal regrets to report that an employee belonging to Stefanutti Stocks Mining Services (a division
of Stefanutti Stocks Proprietary Limited) ("SSMS"), the mining contractor at Vanggatfontein Mine,
succumbed to his injuries following a vehicle incident that occurred at the mine during the night shift
of Monday, 17 June 2019.
"Wescoal and SSMS are saddened by the loss of one of our colleagues and wish to express our
deepest and sincerest condolences to the deceased employee's family, friends and colleagues," said
Reginald Demana, Wescoal Chief Executive Officer.
Wescoal and SSMS remain committed to the safety of all workers and the objective of zero harm. To
understand the circumstances of this incident, an investigation involving the Department of Mineral
Resources is currently underway. Wescoal and SSMS are jointly providing support and assistance to
the family and all involved during this difficult time.
