NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
Eskom hereby notifies its debt investors that it has publicly released its audited annual financial
statements ("AFS") for the year ended 31 March 2019.
The audit report relating to the AFS is qualified and the basis for the qualified opinion relates to:
- irregular expenditure relating to modifications to contracts which were not conducted as required
in terms of the PFMA as well irregular expenditure which was not recorded at the correct
amount; and
- insufficient audit evidence relating to fruitless and wasteful expenditure.
In addition, the audit report contains:
- an emphasis of matter relating to material losses as a result of meter tampering and bypasses,
illegal connections to the electricity network and illegal vending of electricity;
- a material uncertainty relating to the going concern status of Eskom; and
- reportable irregularities relating to prior periods which have not been cleared as well as the
current period to 31 March 2019 in respect of non-compliance in terms of the B-BBEE Act.
