Cautionary regarding the impact on MTNZF’s liquidity following MTN Group Limited’s
announcement that no interim dividend will be paid
MTNZF shareholders are referred to MTNZF’s announcement issued on the Stock Exchange News
Service of the JSE Limited (“SENS”) on 31 July 2020, referring to MTN Group Limited’s (“MTN”)
announcement “Trading statement for the six-month period ended 30 June 2020” issued by MTN on
SENS on 31 July 2020.
MTNZF shareholders are advised that, as MTNZF’s only material investment and asset consists of MTN
shares, the fact that MTN has stated that it will not be paying an interim dividend impacts MTNZF’s
liquidity and hence its ability to pay scheduled preference dividends. MTNZF is entering into
discussions with MTN and the preference share funders to find solutions to mitigate the impact.
The full impact is currently being determined and this may have a material effect on the price of
MTNZF’s ordinary shares. Accordingly, MTNZF shareholders are advised to exercise caution when
dealing in MTNZF ordinary shares until a full announcement is made.
