Trading statement for the unaudited interim group financial results for the six months
ended 30 September 2020
In terms of paragraph 3.4(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, companies are required
to publish a trading statement as soon as they are satisfied, with a reasonable degree of
certainty, that the financial results for the period to be reported upon next will differ by at
least 20% from those of the previous corresponding reporting period. SepHold is in the
process of finalising its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2020, which
will be released on SENS on or about 13 November 2020 and published in the press on or
about 16 November 2020.
Accordingly, SepHold, Métier Mixed Concrete (Pty) Ltd (“Métier” or “the subsidiary”) and
Dangote Cement SA (Pty) Ltd* (“SepCem” or “the associate”) collectively referred to as the
Group, advise shareholders that, results for the six months ended 30 September 2020
compared to the six months ended 30 September 2019 (“H1 2020”) are as follows:
• the Group basic loss per share is expected to be between 11.43 cents and 11.72 cents
(H1 2020: basic loss per share of 3.70 cents), and
• the Group headline loss per share is expected to be between 13.39 cents and 13.71
cents (H1 2020: headline loss per share of 4.11 cents).
Métier’s volumes normalised during the interim period and the subsidiary remained
profitable despite the sharp volume decline due to the COVID - 19 related national lockdown.
Métier’s stellar performance contributed to the Group’s positive earnings before equity
accounting for the associate, thereby supporting SepHold’s operational expenses for the
period under review.
SepCem’s sales volumes were 8.5% lower year on year (“y-o-y”) for the six months ended
June 2020 in spite of zero sales during the alert level 5 national lockdown from 27 March 2020
to 3 May 2020. The associate has achieved significant sales volume recovery since May 2020
with double-digit monthly increases compared to 2019.
Following the Dangote Cement PLC results announcement for the nine months ended 30
September 2020 released on 6 November 2020, SepCem’s third-quarter sales volumes were
82% higher than achieved for Q2 2020 and 33% higher y-o-y. SepCem’s cumulative sales
volumes for the nine months were 7% higher than the comparative period. The third quarter
results will be accounted for in the SepHold year-end financial results for the 12 months
ending 31 March 2021.
*SepCem has a December year-end as a subsidiary of Dangote Cement PLC, therefore the figures incorporated in the interim results refer
to the six months ended 30 June 2020.
The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or
reported on by the Company’s external auditors.
