The announcement of 6 June 2007 relating to the purchase of BHP Billiton Plc
shares by BHP Billiton Limited contained an error: BHP Billiton Limited was
quoted as having purchased 730,000 ordinary shares in BHP Billiton Plc at an
average price of 1268.88 per share. The correct average price was 1269.88 per
share. A replacement announcement is set out below.

BHP BILLITON PLC - TRANSACTION IN SHARES
BHP Billiton Limited announces that on 6 June 2007 it purchased 730,000 ordinary
shares of BHP Billiton Plc at an average price of 1269.88 pence per ordinary
share.
Following the above transaction, BHP Billiton Plc holds 24,910,000 of its
ordinary shares as treasury shares and BHP Billiton Limited holds 30,166,714 of
the ordinary shares in BHP Billiton Plc, for a total of 55,076,714 shares. The
total number of BHP Billiton Plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding shares held
as treasury shares and shares held by BHP Billiton Limited) is 2,311,385,288.
