Seardel is currently preparing its interim results for the six months ended 31
December 2003.
Shareholders are advised that, due primarily to the negative impact of the
strong rand on Seardel"s business, resulting in a flood of imports of apparel,
yarn and textiles over the period in question, it is anticipated that Seardel"s
earnings and headline earnings will be substantially lower than for the
corresponding period of the previous financial year. In terms of the Listing
Requirements, "substantially" is defined as being a decrease of 30% or more.
This trading statement has not been reviewed or reported on by Seardel"s
auditors and, as a result, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when
dealing in Seardel ordinary and N ordinary shares until the interim results are
published.
